Hythe Venetian Fete
On the 19th August 2026 we dropped onto the treacherous waters of the Hythe Military Canal. Our crew included an architect, a prop maker, a restaurant manager, an artist, a student and more whimsical generosity than you can count! We choreographed actions to illustrate the story of Gerry Dalton. The float crier would yell a word, and the crew would follow:
'Gerry's!'
The statues hid, camouflaging themselves amongst the bushes that Gerry himself kept tall in order to conceal his fantastical secret garden.
'Pompeii!'
The crew resurfaced, representing the moment Gerry cut down his trees just five years before he passed away, revealing his Pompeii.
'Louis XIV!'
Louis XIV, creator of the Palace of Versailles and someone Gerry was very impressed by, directed the crew to point their fish pistols towards the crowd, intensely targeting an audience member.
'Gongoozle!'
Defined as 'the activity of watching boats and activities on canals, for pleasure', this directed the float to turn, ponder, and return to their respective positions.
Thank you!
